Society is what ultimately makes our species strong. It allows our chewy tasty bodies to climb to nearly the top of the food chain when we should really be somewhere in the lower middle of it. Without society we would not be alive in the numbers the human race has achieved. (For better or worse)
Society has rules, short cuts, cheats, and even mutually cooperative agreements which are give and take based on your own abilities. Our own individual wit, charm and intelligence determine how much we may prosper from these social agreements.
Operating outside of this agreement is nearly impossible. The choice was made by our ancestors. Your choice remains the daily decision and will power to conform to expectations. The more urban the setting you live in requires more conformity.
Those who reach the top more often do so by working within these confines. Some cheat the system and still get ahead but take on greater risk. Life is risk. Find your own tolerance to it based on your ability to recover from failure.
